More Power to Aamir Khan

I was reading Aamir Khan's blog and I quite liked the way he has connected to his audience/fans.

His first film as director- 'Taare Zameen Pe' is on the verge of release and he is apparently nervous and so is everyone who looks up to him including me. I want such film makers to succeed, you know. Not because of anything but because these are people who have dared to do things which no one has the guts to do. People like Aamir, John Matthew Matthan, Ashutosh Gowariker are people who believe in the word 'cinema' and they work really hard to create something which no one has ever created. They want to tell stories which are new and entertaining. I also wish Ashutosh's film, Jodha Akbar does well.

How I wish I could be like them. How I wish there would be enough people in this industry who dare to do things differently. But it's not easy, mind you. Imagine a situation where a producer or a director gives me an advance cheque along with a DVD of a Hollywood film and asks me to 'write' it.
What do I do?
I mean it is money we are talking about here and for what? for doing the most easiest thing- copy a film.
I have not yet encountered such a predicament but I know I will be. So far I've been lucky that I have worked with some people who really believe in originality. But that takes time, a lot of time and I need to keep the fire burning in my kitchen.

Of course I resort to television from time to time but then television is also not as easy as it appears to be. It sucks you out totally and after writing a couple of episodes one is not in the frame of mind to switch and think about an original film scene.

So there! guess its a no-win situation here. But hopefully things should turn out right in some years. This is the reason why I want people like Aamir and John Matthan to succeed because they believe and they can make a change.

Well, I'm feeling a little low today (don't know why) and don't feel like writing much. But I'm trying to get in the habit of writing more often. Not that anyone is reading it or remotely interested in my blog. But nevertheless, I will continue writing. Period.

More Power to Originality!

sir, you have forced me to read the blog.
Some good stuff, some purely reactionary, some angsty.
